Bolt
Freemium
Build websites, apps, and prototypes by describing your idea in chat, with AI generating code, hosting, databases, and deployment in one web interface.
About
Bolt is an app and website builder that turns your description into a working web app. You type what you want. It writes the code and shows you a live preview.
It handles hosting, databases, and login for you. You do not need to set up servers or wiring.
It is built for starting new projects from nothing. It is not built for fixing or building on apps you already have.
Open it if you have a new app idea and no code team. Skip it if you need to rebuild something that already exists.
Who Bolt is best for
- Teams building new applications without existing products to modify: You start from a blank slate. Bolt writes the first version for you.
- Users wanting model flexibility beyond Google: You can try different AI models for the job. You are not locked to one provider.
Why you should ignore it
This is where it hits a wall.
- Existing apps: You cannot import your current codebase. You cannot point it at a site you already run.
- Refactoring old work: It builds fresh from your description. It does not help you rewrite what you already made.
